The Heights is a large P-12 school situated in the foothills in northern Adelaide. It is an Ignite focus school for gifted education and provides a range of programs including year-level and subject acceleration for gifted students. All staff in the school are trained in gifted education methodologies and provide training for teachers in other schools. The school is divided into three sub-schools to effectively manage the range of learning experiences of a large number of students. The school philosophy is 'we work hard to learn, we respect ourselves and each other, we value acts of generosity'. The school offers a broad curriculum including year 12 Specialist Maths, Physics and Chemistry, specialist cricket program, an automotive VET centre and the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. The school has recently been extensively refurbished and offers a broad range of competitive and after-school sport across the sub-schools. More than 200 community members volunteer in the school each year and the parent club and governing council are actively involved in the life of the school.
