Tallarook Primary School aims to provide a caring, safe, supportive and nurturing environment which will foster all students’ educational and behavioural development, to enable them to become effective citizens in our school and in the broader community. Staff are committed to continuous school improvement and achieving excellence in teaching and learning at every level. The school has 5.59 equivalent full-time staff: 1 Principal class, 3 teachers and 2 Education Support Staff. We aim for high academic achievement in Mathematics and Reading and the provision of quality learning programs in all other curriculum areas. A strong commitment to the development and integration of Information and Communications Technology combine to provide an exciting and flexible learning program designed to meet students’ individual needs. The values of Respect and Responsibility are central to the life of our school. The school is currently implementing the School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework where the use of the Restorative Practice approach to discipline and well being, the Better Buddies Framework and a focus on Healthy and Sustainable lifestyles combine to support Student Engagement. There is a strong partnership within the school community, with a high level of participation in School Council, Parents’ Club, and social activities. In 2011 we hope to see the completion of a multipurpose hall provided by the Building Education Revolution Funds. This hall will enable us to hold whole school celebrations as well as provide an area for indoor sport, play, cooking and science.
