St Fiacre's Primary Leichhardt is an inner-city Catholic systemic school within the Archdiocese of Sydney. The school caters for girls and boys from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our school motto emphasises the essential principles of our school's mission: faith, learning and care. At St Fiacre's, the teachings of Jesus are integral to our mission as Catholic educators. Our mission is to live and deepen our Catholic faith by following the example of Jesus, to impart Catholic beliefs, values practices and traditions, and to celebrate our faith as a Catholic community. Within the school curriculum there is a formal and developmental Religious Education Program. It focuses on the children's growth in religious knowledge and understandings, skills, values and attitudes. The Sacramental Programs for Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation are Parish-based programs. Parents are supported by the parish in the important role of educating their children in the faith through these Sacramental Programs. The school supports parents by teaching programs that run concurrently with the Parish-based program. At St Fiacre's we are committed to providing a contemporary, high quality education and implementing a challenging, relevant and inclusive curriculum, in a climate of high expectations. Our school's approach to teaching and learning is student-centred and aims to personalise learning to meet the needs of students, while developing the students' capacity to take responsibility for and have a voice in their own learning. This approach provides opportunities for inquiry learning, deep thinking, problem solving, group interaction, creative thinking, higher order skills and decision making, while engaging students in the effective use of technology. Our school provides for Gifted and Talented, ESL, Special Education, choir and sport activities which emphasise skills, fitness, health and fun such as athletics, cricket, gymnastics and dance.
